วงศ์ Moinidae

Members of the family, i.e. Moina spp. and Moinodaphnia spp. are typically planktonic, but the majority of them are restricted to small temporary ponds, and saline and or alkaline lakes. Moinids have antennule extend from the ventral margin side of the head. Antennules are usually ringed with rows of short setae and have a vertical row of long hairs on the lateral margin. Most species have short hairs on valve the head, or on the valves, or both, these hairs may be restricted to a small area of the head or shell. Antennules of males are modified; long and broadly curved and are thus modified for clasping the female. Antenna have large bisopod, endopod of three segments and an exopod of four segments. An ocellus is absent, except Moinodaphnia macleayi and several species of Moina. Five pairs of thoracic limbs, males first limb are modified large hook (Goulden, 1968; Tiang-nga, 2019).
